Exclusive Manu Reserved Zone Tours & Wildlife Safaris

An Epic Adventure Through Uncharted Jungles and Ancient Mysteries.

Why the Reserved Zone is the Ultimate Amazon Experience

Access to the Manu Reserved Zone is strictly limited and requires special government permits, which we handle for you. This exclusivity guarantees a crowd-free, pristine wilderness experience. Here, the forest is primary and ancient. You will navigate vast, untouched rivers, sleep in remote eco-lodges deep in the jungle, and experience the Amazon exactly as it has existed for millennia. It is a true expedition into the wild.

Unmatched Wildlife Encounters: Jaguars, Giant Otters & Macaws

Because this area is largely untouched by human activity, the wildlife is incredibly abundant and unafraid. The Reserved Zone is one of the few places in the world where you have a genuine chance to spot the elusive Giant River Otter, the apex predator of the waterways. Keep your binoculars ready for jaguars resting on riverbanks, tapir herds at the famous Macaw Clay Licks, and over 1,000 species of birds.

Important Permit Information & Expedition Logistics

* Permits Required: Yes. We secure all necessary SERNANP (Peruvian National Service of Natural Areas) permits for your entry.
* Minimum Duration: Due to the remote location, expeditions to the Reserved Zone require a minimum of 5 to 7 days.
* Accommodation: Remote jungle lodges and basic campsites, offering an authentic expedition feel.
* Health & Safety: A Yellow Fever vaccination is mandatory, and we provide comprehensive first-aid support throughout the expedition.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why do I need a special permit for the Manu Reserved Zone?

The Reserved Zone is a strictly protected natural area managed by the Peruvian government (SERNANP) to conserve its pristine biodiversity. To prevent mass tourism and protect the ecosystem, independent access is prohibited. Only authorized operators like Manu Wild can secure the necessary permits for you to enter legally and safely.

What are my chances of seeing Giant Otters or Jaguars in the Reserved Zone?

The Manu Reserved Zone holds the highest concentration of Giant River Otters in the Amazon. While jaguars are elusive and sightings are never 100% guaranteed, the Reserved Zone offers the best possible chance in Peru due to the pristine, undisturbed nature of the habitat and the presence of large clay licks where they hunt.

How far in advance should I book a Reserved Zone tour?

Because the government limits the number of daily visitors and permits are required, we highly recommend booking your Reserved Zone expedition at least 4 to 6 months in advance, especially if you plan to travel during the dry season (May to October).
